WENDY WARNER

Wendy Warner has become one of the leading cellists in the world. “Miraculous”, “flawless” and “exquisite” are characterizations often used by the critics. Her reputation precedes her almost everywhere she goes—from New York’s Carnegie Hall to Boston’s Symphony Hall, from Paris’ Salle Pleyel to Berlin’s Philharmonie. She has toured North America with the National Symphony Orchestra, Mstislav Rostropovich conducting and the Moscow Virtuosi, Vladimir Spivakov conducting.

Ms Warner has been seen in acclaimed performances with great orchestras, such as the Chicago Symphony, the Boston Symphony, the National Symphony, the San Francisco Symphony, the Detroit Symphony, the Dallas Symphony and the Philadelphia Orchestra. In Europe and around the world Ms Warner has performed with the London Symphony, the Berlin Symphony, the Moscow Virtuosi, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the French Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, and L’Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse.

She also had performances with Gidon Kremer at New York’s Carnegie Hall and Los Angeles’s Walt Disney Hall; with the St Paul Chamber Orchestra in Minnesota with the Detroit Symphony (Neeme Jarvi).

Wendy Warner was first brought to the attention of the world stage when in 1990 she was awarded First Prize in the Fourth International Rostropovich Competition in Paris. She made her début with the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Mstislav Rostropovich in October 1990 playing the Shostakovich Concerto No. 1. Ms Warner is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and was the student of Nell Novak from age 6 until joining Mstislav Rostropovich at Curtis. An accomplished pianist as well, she has studied with Emilio del Rosario at The Chicago Music Center. In 1991, she was awarded a prestigious Avery Fischer Career grant and debuted at New York’s Carnegie Hall.
