XIAO-FEN MIN Pipa player and composer Min Xiao-Fen is known as a world recognised virtuoso in orchestral and other projects. She was a pipa soloist with the Nanjing Traditional Music Orchestra of China for ten years, and also won the Jiangsu National Pipa Competition, eventually reaching the rank of a first class artist in China. She moved to the United States in 1992 and has been a featured soloist at the Lincoln Center Festival, the New York Guitar Festival, the San Francisco Jazz Festival, the Vienna Music Festival, the Amsterdam-China Festival, the Utrecht International Lute Festival, the Geneva Music Festival, the Berlin Chinese Music Festival, the TUM Festival in Finland, the Macao Arts Festival and the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival.
She made a guest appearance on the singer Björk’s album, Volta, and was a featured composer, performing her solo piece, Blue Pipa, for the American Composers Orchestra’s Composer Out Front series. Her Ghost Masks was commissioned by and performed at the Glatt and Verkehrt Festival in Krems, Austria.
