Charles H Parsons
American Record Guide, November 2012

…look at that cast! It is the very best the company could offer. All have plenty of personality to go along with their excellent singing. It is a rare opportunity to see Greindl in a buffo role. He is just as effective in buffo as he is in his better-known Wagnerian roles. He was for many years a staple on the Bayreuth roster. We get two soubrettes for the price of one: the charms of Köth and Otto. Lyric tenor Grobe is delicate and robust by turns, excelling in the fine art of decrescendo and phrasing. McDaniel sings elegantly as the lecherous Robinson. Maazel guides the opera surely and with enthusiasm. Finally I can enjoy the opera! © 2012 American Record Guide Read complete review
