Penguin Guide, January 2009

Koussevitzky’s feeling for Ravel is second to none. There is a certain want of enchantment in the first two movements of Ma Mère l’Oye, but for the most part criticism is silenced.

Richard Osborne
Gramophone, April 2002

"Koussevitzky's 1930 Boston recording of Pictures at an Exhibition should be on any short-list. This is a world-premiere recording, conducted by the maverick genius who commissioned the Ravel orchestration and played by a virtuoso ensemble which that same maverick genius had stuffed to the gunnels with musicians of French and Russian extraction. If that is not the genuine article I don't know what is."

R.D., March 2002

"If it sounds aged, Obert-Thorn's choice of source material has made sure it is no mere antique, and certainly more vivid than RCA's Gold Seal remastering by Ward Marston on a CD published in 1993."
