Michael Mark
American Record Guide, April 2002

"Mr Pollack, a contributor to the Marco Polo Strauss series, has a winning way with Ziehrer and knows when to look ahead to future Viennese tunesmiths and when to look back to an earlier time. There's a lot on these 13 tracks of wit and charm... The two marches heard here are every bit as tuneful, lively, and suggestive of things martial as the 'Radetsky March'. This record is must listening for lovers of musical Viennese pastries and will surely be an education if you are familiar only with the Strausses and Lehar. Excellent notes, per usual with this label."

Andrew Lamb
Gramophone, March 2002

"...I think this newcomer is the best of the series to date. It is certainly the most generously filled, and in Christian Pollack it features one of the most persuasive of the conductors of Marco Polo's Viennese collections. It also has perhaps the most attractive selection of compositions of the three CDs so far, beginning with the rousing Schonfeld-Marsch, one of Ziehrer's most popular creations... The collection as a whole provides both an enjoyable representation of Ziehrer's exhilarating art and an excellent advert for the series."
