Robert A. Moore
American Record Guide, May 2012

With this project Eisenlohr has established himself as a major talent, and the other pianists comport themselves well in collaborating with a talented group of mostly younger singers. As a group, the 12 baritones are best, followed by the 9 tenors, then the 10 sopranos, and finally the 2 mezzos and 1 bass. Repeated hearings take you past realizing that most are not famous singers and allow a greater appreciation of their interpretive skill, also showing that many different styles of voice can be effective in lieder.

If you want a full panoply of Schubert’s songs, you can’t beat the price for this set…Consistently the sound is remarkably good…I am delighted to have spent many pleasant hours rediscovering songs I had forgotten and hearing others I had never heard. © 2012 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide online
