BEETHOVEN: Piano Sonatas Nos. 11 and 29 8.550234
BEETHOVEN: Piano Sonatas Nos. 12, 16 and 18 8.550166

From its very opening bars, the Hammerklavier is commanding; there is rapt concentration in the slow movement, and the closing fugue runs its course with a powerful inevitability. Again, most realistic recording.

Volume 7 with its trio of middle-period sonatas can be recommended with few reservations. No. 18 is a considerable success, and there is much to stimulate the listener’s interest here. Excellent sound.
