Gramophone, October 1990

"some most eloquent string playing"

Penguin Guide, January 1990

"... I greatly enjoyed the First Symphony, where there is no lack of momentum. The hammering timpani at the opening reminded me of Klemperer, and the slow movement brings some most eloquent string playing. The finale is idiosyncratic with a broadening at the end, but the interpretation is convincing and often exciting."

"the beauty of this interpretation shines through"

Fanfare

"I would urge anyone seriously interested in the art of conducting to purchase this album"
