Gramophone, April 1991

"Very recommendable collection of the violin concertos ... . The soloist is the warmly responsive Japanese violinist, Takako Nishizaki, with an excellent chamber orchestra from eastern Europe, the Capella Istropolitana of Bratislava."

Hi-Fi Choice, December 1990

"From Naxos come excellent modern digital recordings of the five Mozart violin concertos plus the Sinfonia Concertante for violin, viola and orchestra. There are surely no better examples than these of the high standard of performance and recording and value for money offered by this label at only £3.99 per disc. The excellent soloist is Takako Nishizaki, who is stylishly accompanied throughout by the Capella Istropolitana using modern instruments with proper Mozartian finesse. An impressive account of the Concerto in D, K.218 (the Andante cantabile is beautifully poised, and the tempos of the finale perceptively contrasted) coupled with the Sinfonia Concertante. Here Nishizaki makes a persuasive duo with Ladislav Kyselak (viola). They give a spontaneous performance. The tranquil Andante is followed by a buoyant, rhythmically pointed finale, where Gunzenhauser (who has already provided a strong introduction for the first movement) shows how responsive he is to the music's buoyant rhythmic vigour. Once more very good digital sound."

"The finale is infectious in its liveliness"
