Penguin Guide, January 2009

Gunzenhauser gives a fresh, bright-eyed account. He takes both the opening movement and the Andante (In the Garden) appreciably faster than does Butt, and he loses something in poise and spacious eloquence in consequence. But the overall performance is spontaneous and enjoyable. It is well recorded and, although the violins sound thin, that is almost certainly not the fault of the engineers. Of the two jaunty overtures, In Italy is especially vivacious and sparkling.

[Karl Goldmark’s] reputation now resides primarily in his delightful Rustic Wedding Symphony, which exists tenuously on the fringe of the repertoire…Rustic Wedding should be cause for celebration…Naxos’s outstanding new version is even more so. © 1995 Fanfare Read complete review on Fanfare

"This new Naxos recording offers Goldmark's endearing Rustic Wedding Symphony in a lively, bright-eyed performance, with two sprighly overtures to add to the attractions of a well-recorded CD"
