Penguin Guide, January 2009

Dong-Suk Kang brings out the delicate lyricism in Saint-Saëns’s most popular violin concerto. The coupling of concertante works brings similar charm, and it is god to have the rarer Caprice andalous included, a 10-minute piece with many typical Saint-Saëns felicities. If Kang’s artistic personality is less strong than say, Perlman in this repertoire, these are still enjoyable accounts, and Wit provides sensitive accompaniments. The 1993 recording is good but not outstanding, lacking a degree of richness and depth.

American Record Guide

"more than just convincingly shaped; it is downright poetic... Why pay more and get less when this excellent Naxos offering is available at low cost?"

Gramophone

"He has a notably warm, very seductive tone quality and he is clearly a sensitive, thoughtful musician"
