Benjamin Frith offers a highly imaginative set of the Op. 35 Preludes and Fugues, full of diversity, from the flamboyant opening Prelude in E minor to the expansive Prelude No. 6 in B flat. The three Caprices are equally varied in mood and colour and are most sensitively presented. The Perpetuum mobile makes a scintillating score. Acceptably full if not remarkable piano-sound.
A most solid release by a player of distinct gift and musicality... his performances are entertaining and colorful. All in all, this is tasteful, skilled piano playing at a very high level, and I was pleased to make Frith's artistic acquaintance. Good sound.
