Penguin Guide, January 2009

Michael Halász and the Failoni Orchestra are affectionately easy-going rather than overtly dramatic, but they play both these works most winningly. The recording too is full and naturally balanced, although the resonance of the Italian Institute in Budapest makes the tuttis spread and lose some of the sharpness of focus. But this is a most enjoyable disc nevertheless and well worth its modest cost.

Richard Burke
Fanfare, June 1995

"These Schubert recordins are then typical of Naxos's output : nice solid readings well played and admirably recorded... Halasz captures the many classical elements of these works, the lightness, the formal balance, and the transparent orchestral fabric, while also emphasizing Schubert's extraordinary lyrical gift. The orchestra plays with style and enthusiasm."

"They play both these works most winningly."

"The playing is spontaneous, as truly Schubertian as you could wish and there is a genuine affection about the readings and the crisp, clear, clean playing."
