Penguin Guide, January 2009

John Georgiadis with his rhythmic flair not only brings out the colour and vigour of the fast movements but, as a fine violinist himself, persuades his Irish players to draw out the expressive warmth of such numbers as Tendresse in the Dolly Suite. Masques et bergamasques, the Dolly Suite and the incidental music to Pelléas et Mélisande are all among Fauré’s best-loved works, and it is good too to have the rarer music for the Shakespeare-based play, Shylock, complete with two vocal movements sweetly sung by Lynda Russell. Michael Healy is the expressive violin soloist in the lovely Berceuse. Warm, atmospheric recording, transferred at rather a low level.
