Penguin Guide, January 2009

Harnasie, like the Op. 50 Mazurkas, is the fruits of Szymanowski’s encounter with the Polish folk music of the Góral mountains, and its heady exoticism is quite captivating. Stryja’s recording is a good one and it is coupled with Mandragora, a harlequinade for chamber forces from 1920—not Szymanowski at his most fully characteristic but a cultivated and intelligent score. Worth the money.

BBC Music Magazine

"Conductor and orchestra are in tune with its vivid colouring"
