Penguin Guide, January 2009

The Naxos issue is most valuable for offering not only a première recording of the Discourse for Orchestra, but the complete ballet-score of Miracle in the Gorbals, colourful and vigorous in illustrating the sordid but moving tale of murder and salvation in the slums of Glasgow. The five movements from Things to Come are also welcome in Christopher Palmer’s reconstruction of the original opulent scoring…Good, warm sound.

Robert McColley
Fanfare, November 1999

superb music…the very first recording of the complete score. This is powerful music, and so are its discmates, Discourse for Orchestra…and music from the film Things to Come. Christopher Lyndon-Gee and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra give appropriately intense, emotive performances. © 1999 Fanfare Read complete review on Fanfare
