A most enjoyable and inexpensive modern-instrument performance of Op. 4, rhythmically jaunty and warmly expressive by turns. Simon Lindley is an excellent soloist and the piping reeds of the organ at Holy Cross Church, Fenham, seem very apt for the music. Op. 4/6 is played and registered with appealing delicacy to remind us of the alternative version for harp. The recording balance is admirable. Not a first choice overall but an undoubted bargain.
