"...it [the Castile and Leon Symphony Orchestra] is an excellent band for which the music of Joaquin Turina is meat and drink. I confess a certain resistance to Turina... Yet when played with this much dash and colour and conviction, and so brightly and crisply recorded, such well-known works as the Danzas fantasticas and Procession del Rocio do seem to justify their inclusion in the canon of 'Spanish classics'... there's no denying that this is a very enjoyable disc, so well-played and recorded I wouldn't have complained if it had been a full-price release."
"Turina's skill and sensitivity in the art of orchestration shines throughout this programme, as does that of the Castilla y Leon Symphony Orchestra in extracting every good feature the music offers. The recording is clear, warm-sounding and with a believably spacious acoustic. There are other recordings of all these works, but none that brings them all together - or exceeds the quality of these performances. This is an outstanding issue."
