Ronald E. Grames
Fanfare, March 2014

The ballet recording by Hungarian Radio is superbly done. The chorus…sings the challenging music enchantingly and…quite precisely. The soloists are excellent. © 2014 Fanfare Read complete review

Cinemusical, September 2013

There is certainly plenty of gorgeous choral writing here to enjoy and the music’s dramatic flow insures that the listener is constantly drawn into this music. Petitgirard’s music is fairly accessible and the approach certainly is unique. Its appeal for fans of contemporary choral music should make it receive a wider audience. Perhaps a smaller set of pieces can find their way to choral programs over time. For now, there is this gorgeous recording that captures the instrumental sounds against the choir in a perfect balance. © 2013 Cinemusical Read complete review

David Denton
David's Review Corner, August 2013

Laurent Petitgirard enjoys the dual career as a conductor and prolific composer of film and concert scores, the ballet, The Little Prince, completed three years ago. It was commissioned to form part of Sonia Petrovna’s staging of the story by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, presented with great success at the Avignon and Reims Opera Houses…the music…is largely scored for a chorus used in orchestral terms. That is supplemented by two clarinets, harp and three percussionists. The result is often intriguing, and if you want to take a sample then go to track ten where Petitgirard uses his clarinets and percussion to produce the most charming effects. With the conductor at the helm we take the performance to be all that he desired, and the recording from the Hungarian Radio Studio in Budapest is beautifully clean and detailed. © David’s Review Corner
