Janet Banks
The Strad, October 2013

Zurich-born Poltéra and the Norwegian players give a sparky, vibrant performance that brings out the work’s pastoral qualities. The solo cello’s meandering entrance gradually ascends, giving Poltéra the first of many opportunities to show off his fluid, cantabile tone in the high reaches. There’s an attractive lilt to his Andante sostenuto, and the players pull the tension taut in the more urgent finale with its highly charged solo episodes. © 2013 The Strad Read complete review

Peter Dickinson
Gramophone, February 2013

…Christian Poltéra…is outstanding and invariably well-supported by the Bergen players under Litton. His high positions are effortless, as are the nasty double thirds…and he delivers a fine cadenza. Poltéra’s duet with the oboe in the slow movement is magical. This is actually a siciliano, reflecting Barber’s Italian links, and the mood in this performance is immaculately sustained throughout. © 2013 Gramophone Read complete review on Gramophone
