Jack Mason
Midwest Book Review, January 2014

Superbly narrated by William Roberts, “The Call Of Cthulhu And Other Stories” showcases unabridged presentations for four of Lovecraft’s most iconic stories: The Call of Cthulhu; The House; The Dunwich Horror, and Dragon. With its flawless production values, this four CD audio book edition from Naxos of America provides the listener with a true ‘theatre of the mind’ experience with respect to these dark and mythic fantasies with their impressive emotional impact. Highly recommended, especially for the legions of HP Lovecraft fans, “The Call Of Cthulhu And Other Stories” will prove to be an enduringly popular addition to community library audio book collections. © 2014 Midwest Book Review Read complete review

AudioFile, May 2012

Readers and listeners either love or hate Lovecraft, most commonly because of his complex language and near overwhelming sentence structure. Roberts takes on this challenge and delivers these short stories beautifully. He seems to have wrangled the leviathan that is Lovecraft’s style and bullied it into submission. His delivery is engaging and dramatic. It shows that he has spent time with the text and understands the author’s sometimes dizzying style. Best of all, he is able to communicate that understanding to the listener. Roberts’s narration provides a perfect introduction for newcomers who are interested in Lovecraft’s work but who are intimidated by his reputation. © 2012 AudioFile Read complete review

Audiobooks Today, October 2010

One of our favorite narrators, William Roberts is a film actor whose audio projects are rare delights. He once narrated “Strangers on a Train,” which I rank as one of the 10 best audiobook recordings ever. Here we have THE CALL OF CTHULHU by classic horror author H.P. Lovecraft, which includes the title story, plus “The Hound” and “The Dunwich Horror.” Outstanding.
