Rachel Redford
The Oldie, February 2014

These 49 poems show what Owen intended: the pity and truth of war. The Parable of the Old Man and the Young re-works the story of Abraham and Isaac. Owen’s ‘old man’ refuses to slay the ‘Ram of Pride’ and instead kills ‘his son / And half the seed of Europe, one by one’. All are enhanced by the infinitely sympathetic reading, but the force of anger beneath the understatement makes the one, for me, the most memorable. © 2014 The Oldie

Publishers Weekly, November 2013

English actor and veteran narrator Anton Lesser will be narrating the audio edition of The War Poetry of Wilfred Owen, which is part of Naxos AudioBooks’s Great Poets series. This collection contains all of the major (and lesser-known) poems that Owen wrote during the course of World War I, before his death in the last days before the Armistice in 1918. © 2013 Publishers Weekly
