Paul Janeczko
AudioFile, June 1996

These masters approach horror from its psychological aspect. There's no grotesque violence here; each of the stories focuses on the human mind. This classic approach may be appreciated by a new audience or savored by Poe and Saki devotees. Dermot Kerrigan has a beautiful, clear and lilting Irish voice, which enunciates with great fluidity. He fully involves himself in the interpretation and occasionally goes over the top with emotionalism. This presentation is not for the listener who likes narrators to keep their distance from the text. The narration carries a lot of power and forces the listener to be moved by the haunting tales.
