Göran Forsling
MusicWeb International, March 2012

The recorded sound is spectacular, even today, and allows us to wallow in the colourful orchestration of Canteloube. Stokowski draws luminous playing from the band, the opening number especially. Moffo’s voice sails above and in front of the orchestral sonorities with a roundness and beauty that surpasses practically every other soprano who has recorded these songs, possibly Kiri Te Kanawa excepted.

There is no shortage of recordings of any of this music and many readers may be well stocked already, but this programme—and the execution of it—is wholly delectable and the price is certainly affordable. © 2012 MusicWeb International Read complete review

Donald R Vroon
American Record Guide, January 2012

it’s such a great recording that it needs no fill.

Moffo’s voice was rich and gorgeous…The orchestra matches her in richness…It’s downright sensuous.

Seven of the Canteloube songs are here—the best seven…none of this music has ever been performed or recorded better than right here. © 2012 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide online
