Robert Cummings
Classical Net, February 2012

The dancers are especially good in their dramatic skills, particularly their facial expressions, which often divulge a charming sort of cartoonish exaggeration. The choreography is rather basic but quite fitting to the generally straightforward treatment of the work…the performance is…enjoyable and more than adequate, as Prokofiev’s catchy themes and vivacious rhythms are rendered with enough color and playfulness to effectively underscore the action on stage.

There is an interesting bonus track on the disc, Rehearsing Peter and the Wolf, wherein the choreographer and dancers in the production discuss the performance…Recommended. © 2012 Classical Net Read complete review

Positive Feedback Online, January 2012

With this recording ballet is added to the story [of Peter and the Wolf] with fine results…the ballet performers are students of the Royal Ballet School…That may be even more appealing to most children as most of the performers do a very competent job here. The music and its performers are fine…A main goal is obtained by excellent sound reproduction of many of the instruments of the orchestra definitely including the tympani and bass drum representing the guns of the hunters. This is a fun and educational project…It is easy to recommend it for what it is. © 2012 Positive Feedback Online Read complete review

This Peter and the Wolf will be an instant favorite with young and old…The level of performance is astonishingly high and the overall production values consistent with what one expects from the Royal Ballet, that is top notch. © 2011 Blu-RayDefinition.com Read complete review
