Jonathan Dove’s 21st opera, The Adventures of Pinocchio, calls for a large cast and ingenious staging, with its series of changing scenes that follow the development of the wooden Pinocchio from a talking log to a credible boy. The nature of the story provides scope for colourful, witty and allusive music.
