Marin Alsop fell in love with Brahms at the age of twelve. That affinity with his music has matured over the years and finds its latest expression in one of the master’s best–known works – A German Requiem – which she directs at this year’s BBC Promenade Concerts on August 17 before making history as the first ever female conductor of the festival’s famous Last Night of the Proms on September 7.
Accompany Alsop on her illuminating journey through the life–affirming message of Brahms’ choral masterpiece:
"It’s a requiem for all humanity, a requiem about the living, rather than the dead or dying."
