86035-2 - LENNI-KALLE TAIPALE TRIO: Nothing to Hide

Ultimate goal?

"To break wall between all kind of music. There are no rules to make music. Just do what you feel!" - Lenni-Kalle Taipale

About the music

The Lenni-Kalle Taipale trio cites Michel Camilo, Chick Corea and Arturo Sandoval as musical heroes and describe their sound as "a mix of latin-jazz, rock-jazz, groove and ambient."

The popular jazz punks of Finland display more energy in one bar than most jazz group in an entire set. Youthful, funky and vibrant, Taipale’s trio mixes in a little Latin groove with a kick-ass improvisational exuberance. A very lively record that’s gone gold in native Finland, they’ve been wowing audiences with dynamic performances. Their choice of material also shows a taste for the ironic and untraditional, with a swinging version of a Pippi Long Stocking theme. Very cool.

 About the group

Youthful exuberance and enthusiasm. These traits may be ideal descriptions when developing an international understanding of the music and success of Finland's Lenni-Kalle Taipale Trio. It has been a lightning-paced ride for the Scandinavian group since their first gig as an opening band at an Espoo, Finland jazz cafe in December 1995. Prior to the trio, Taipale (piano) and Tuppurainen (bass) had studied years of classical music in Finnish institutions before becoming infatuated with jazz. Drummer Järvinen had also been a conservatory

student percussionist, with a keen interest in African sounds.
