Naxos wins Symphonic Music Award in ICMA 2013

Naxos was among the winners of the recently announced 2013 International Classical Music Awards, taking home the Symphonic Music Award for its recording of Roussel’s Le Festin de l’araignee and Padmavati Suites Nos 1 and 2 (Naxos 8.572243) by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra conducted by Stéphane Denève. The recording was also a nominee in the 55th GRAMMY® Awards.

Naxos-distributed labels Ondine and Accentus Music were also among this year’s winners. Ondine’s recording of Einojuhani Rautavaara’s Modificata, Incantations, Towards the Horizon (Ondine ODE1178-2) won the Contemporary Music Award while Accentus Music’s documentary of John Cage’s Journey’s in Sound (Accentus Music ACC-20246) was named winner of the DVD Documentaries Award.

The winners will receive their ICMA trophies during the annual awards ceremony that will place in Milan, Italy, on 18 March 2013. The evening will also include a gala concert presented by ICMA winners and the Orchestra La Verdi conducted by John Axelrod.
