From September 6 to 7, pianist Eldar Nebolsin recorded Liszt’s Piano Concertos Nos. 1 and 2 together with Totentanz (Dance of Death). The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra was conducted by its Principal Conductor Vasily Petrenko. Nebolsin’s Naxos debut album, a recording of Rachmaninov’s complete Preludes (8.570327), was released earlier this year and received excellent reviews. In 2005 Nebolsin won 1st Prize at the inaugural Sviatoslav Richter International Piano Competition. The sessions took place at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and were produced and engineered in surround sound by Tim Handley.
