Benet Casablancas and Trío Arbós win Spanish National Music Awards
November 22, 2013
Naxos is pleased to announce that composer Benet Casablancas and the Trío Arbós chamber ensemble have been awarded the Spanish National Music Award 2013 for Composition and Performance respectively. This national award includes a cash prize of 30,000 euros to each winner, presented by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport.
The composition award went to Benet Casablancas for “the maturity and mastery of his music, represented by his wide-ranging contributions to the repertoire,” and “the international reach of his music, as demonstrated by the première performance of Darkness Visible, given by the London Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Vladimir Jurowski in Barcelona 2012.”
The jury presented the performance award to Trío Arbós “for their excellence as a chamber ensemble, particularly demonstrated by their première performances, dissemination and revitalisation of Spanish contemporary music, highlighted by their new commissions project, launched in 2012, and the subsequent premières of works by significant international composers.”
Congratulations to everyone concerned!
