Fine Arts Quartet & Michel Lethiec record Clarinet Quintets by David Del Tredici & Bernard Herrmann

September 11, 2015

The internationally renowned Fine Arts Quartet (violinists Ralph Evans and Efim Boico, violist Juan Miguel Hernandez, cellist Robert Cohen) and French clarinetist Michel Lethiec have just recorded clarinet quintets by two of America’s most distinguished neo-romantic composers: “Magyar Madness” by David Del Tredici (2006) and “Souvenir de Voyages” by Bernard Herrmann (1967). This recording, the Fine Arts Quartet’s 14th for Naxos, will be released in 2016, the year the quartet will be celebrating its 70th anniversary. Both quintets were recorded live during concerts at the Abbaye Saint Michel de Cuxa as part of the Festival Pablo Casals in Prades, France—on 27 July, 2015 (Del Tredici) and 3 August, 2013 (Herrmann).
