From January 6 to 9, Veronique Gens recorded the remaining Chants d’Auvergne by Canteloube, making her only the second singer ever to record all the songs (the only other complete cycle was recorded by Netania Davrath for Vanguard Classics in 1963). The first installment of the complete cycle was recorded in 2004 and was one of Naxos’ best selling titles in 2005. The Chants d’Auvergne will be coupled with nine of the composer’s relatively unknown Chants de France and the Triptyque from 1914. Veteran French conductor Serge Baudo directed the Orchestre National de Lille. The sessions took place at the Auditorium du Nouveau Siecle in Lille and were produced by Andrew Walton of K&A Productions.
