Four orchestral concert works composed by the Czech-born child prodigy and famous Hollywood film composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold were recorded recently in sessions held in Mexico.
Recorded were overture to Der Schneemann, which had its première in 1910 when Korngold was but 13; overture to Schauspiel (1911); Much Ado About Nothing - Suite (1920); and the well-known Violin Concerto, given its première in 1947, with Naxos recording artist Philippe Quint and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería, conducted by their music director Carlos Miguel Prieto.
The recording sessions for the Korngold works, produced and engineered by David Frost, took place from August 6 to 8 in Mexico City.
