Naxos Workman Site Makes 525 Musical Examples
Available to Consumers of Book; Demonstrates Naxos’ Leadership in Digital Realm
Classical music label Naxos has developed a special web site chock-full
of 75 hours of music to accompany the release of book publisher Workman’s new
NPR Listener’s Encyclopedia of Classical Music by renowned music
critic Ted Libbey. This new Naxos Workman Web Site, which will allow consumers
of the book to access special digital streams of 525 musical examples, further
demonstrates Naxos’ commitment to the increased exposure of classical music
through digital distribution.
Each copy of the NPR Listener’s Encyclopedia of Classical
Music (ISBN 0-7611-2072-6/0-7611-3642-8) includes the web site URL and a
special login code that provides access to an overwhelming wealth of musical
material to illustrate the works, techniques, terms, and composers that Libbey
covers. To access the Naxos Workman Web Site:

The Naxos Workman Web Site provides an exciting interactive aural component
to this indispensable 992-page guide to classical music for the average
music listener by Libbey, a former New York Times music critic and author of
five books. The music provided by Naxos helps to bring Libbey’s engaging
prose to life.
The Naxos Workman Web Site further demonstrates that Naxos is truly what
the Los Angeles Times has called an “industry leader” in the field of digital
music distribution. Naxos is a significant classical music presence
on all the major digital service providers and also offers the Naxos Music
Library (www.naxosmusiclibrary.com)
streaming service to almost 800 institutional subscribers worldwide.
Since September 2005, Naxos has been offering an ongoing series
of podcasts, free 20-minute mini-documentaries available on www.Naxos.com
or iTunes. Visitors to Naxos.com
can register at the site to hear all Naxos CDs online in FM quality (20K) for
only $19.95/year or can register to hear samples of all tracks for free.
Naxos also has Naxos Web Radio (www.NaxosRadio.com),
a number of streams of music organized by style.
