We are very pleased to announce a fantastic addition to our library of classics: D.H. Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover. Maxine Peake reads both the unabridged and abridged versions with spirit and warmth, bringing Connie Chatterley and her compelling tale to life. Marrying young and struggling to deal with her husband’s disability, the sexually frustrated Connie turns to her gamekeeper, and in doing so, finds out far more about herself and the nature of love than she thought possible. Originally published in 1928, but banned for 32 years, Lady Chatterley’s Lover is now more arresting in its poignancy than in its capacity to shock. Dashiell Hammett’s The Maltese Falcon is our second March release, a new Classic Crime title. Eric Meyers's reading matches Hammett’s dark and witty prose perfectly, and for those who haven’t yet encountered Sam Spade’s search for the eponymous falcon – start here. The notorious private detective’s realisation that there is nobody he can trust, not even the beautiful woman who first asks for his help, is not to be missed. Lastly, Jeremy Siepmann’s The Life and Works of Liszt takes an intimate look into the life of Franz Liszt, renowned throughout Europe as the greatest pianist of the 19th century. Excerpts from his music are fused with dramatised readings in this account of an incredible, and daring life, with the ever-convincing Neville Jason as Liszt.

Naxos Spoken Word Library contains the world's greatest literature - many classic novels, plays and poetry, from medieval times to the twenty-first century under various categories, such as Children’s Classics, Classic Fiction, Shakespeare’s Plays. New titles are added every month.
