Ask the Artist
Check out Naxos.com this week to see conductor Marin Alsop's answers to your questions. Read about Marin's holiday traditions, the pieces she would love to conduct, and her advice to young women in music.
Our next "Ask the Artist" segment will focus on the Grammy-nominated Maggini Quartet, whose many critically-acclaimed recordings have rejuvenated interest and enthusiasm for British chamber music. Submit your questions for the Magginis to editor@naxos.com. The quartet will pick some of their favourite questions and respond to them personally, with the answers appearing on Naxos.com.
Naxos Recordings Earn an Unprecedented Eleven GRAMMY nominations
Naxos artists and composers have been honoured with eleven GRAMMY © nominations. This amounts to the most nominations Naxos recordings have ever received in a single year and the most nominations of any classical label this year. Naxos distributed labels Naïve and BBC/Opus Arte also earned one nomination each for a total of thirteen nominations for Naxos distributed recordings. Among the nominees is Naxos conductor José Serebrier who tops this year's GRAMMY nominee list with five nominations, the most of any artist in the classical field, for recordings of the Symphonies of Ned Rorem and for a disc of world premiere recordings of his own compositions. The 46th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be presented in Los Angeles at the STAPLES Center on Sunday, February 8, 2004.
