The Fondazione Academia Montis Regalis is a Piedmontese institution that was founded in order to promote early music. In 1994 it established a Baroque and Classical orchestra in Mondovì in order to perform 17th- and 18th-century music in a historically accurate manner using original instruments.

The ensemble has performed under the direction of eminent specialists in early music such as Ton Koopman, Jordi Savall, Christopher Hogwood, Reinhard Goebel, Monica Huggett, Luigi Mangiocavallo and Enrico Gatti, among others, and has appeared at prestigious international Baroque music festivals, serving as orchestra in residence at the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music from 2010 to 2018.

Led by Alessandro De Marchi, the ensemble has recorded a vast discography including works by Alessandro Scarlatti, Vivaldi, Pergolesi and Handel for Naïve, Hyperion and Sony Classical.

The ensemble has received several awards including a Diapason d’Or, a Choc du Monde de la Musique, a Gramophone Editor’s Choice and, in 2006, the prestigious Premio Abbiati.
