The oboist Andrea Tenaglia was born at Lanciano in 1971 and studied with Claudio Di Bucchianico and Alberto Negroni, graduating in 1991, followed by further study with Ingo Goritzky and Hansjorg Schellenberger. In 1998 he won first prize from the Zurich Conservatory at a workshop for the best students at music schools in Switzerland, playing Richard Strauss’s Oboe concerto, and in 2000 won distinction in the soloist diploma at Zurich under Thomas Indermühle. In 2006 he won further honour for his thesis on Great Oboe Schools of the 19th Century at the Teramo G. Braga Conservatory. He has served as principal oboe in a number of leading Italian orchestras under distinguished conductors. He is a founding member of the Marten Ensemble and of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma Wind Quintet, and from 1998 to 2002 was principal oboe in the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi. Since 2002 he has held the position of principal oboe with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma.
