Anja Jung studied with Elisabeth Szemzö-Goese in Kobenz. Professor Heidrun Franz-Vetter in Berlin had a great influence on her vocal and cultural development as did Michael Rhodes, among others, and masterclasses with Irwin Gage.
In 1993 she was a prizewinner in the Jugend musiziert competition and in 1994 received a grant from the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation.
After operatic choral engagements at the Semperoper in Dresden, the Zurich Opera House and with the Bayreuth Festival Chorus, she embarked in 2006 on a career as a soloist, joining the Theater Freiburg, leading to guest engagements in Dortmund, Kiel, Darmstadt and Hanover, at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Opéra national de Paris, the Brunswick State Theatre, Leipzig Opera and with the Odense Symphony Orchestra.
Guest appearances in Freiburg have included the role of Azucena in Verdi’s Il trovatore. Anja Jung is also a concert singer, with performances in Germany, Denmark, Switzerland and the United States in recitals of sacred music and Lieder.
