Arnold Marinissen studied classical percussion at the Royal Conservatorium in The Hague. He was the artistic director and a performing member of the Percussion Group The Hague, as well as a member of the Ives Ensemble. He has performed as a soloist with several orchestras in the Netherlands and in New Zealand, and has given solo recitals in London, Moscow, Sydney, Wellington, Singapore and Boston, among others. He is the founder and leader of the ensemble Lunapark, and has made three solo recordings for the Dutch label BVHaast. Marinissen is also active as a conductor of new music, and has composed for groups such as Asko|Schoenberg, Vocaallab, the Ives Ensemble, the Nederlands Kamerkoor, the Percussion Group The Hague, and has written various works for the choreographer Ederson Rodrigues Xavier. His vocal quintet Von Pferden, Gräsern, Sonnen, Menschen, selected as one of the ten best Dutch premières of 2011–12, has been performed at the Holland Festival, and by Exaudi from London. Other works have been featured at the November Music Festival in ’s-Hertogebosch and at the Muziekgebouw, Eindhoven (the Netherlands), in Taipei (Taiwan) and Zagreb (Croatia) and at the Grachtenfestival, Amsterdam, among others. Arnold Marinissen programmed the 2012–13 season for the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ in Amsterdam.
