The Scottish soprano Catriona Smith, completed her studies at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow in 1986. In 1990 she made her debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and since 1991 she has been a member of Stuttgart Opera.

Her repertoire includes roles such as Gilda (Rigoletto), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte). Other roles include Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare in Egitto), Morgana (Alcina), Olympia (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Micaëla (Carmen), Princess Eudoxie (La Juive), Lisa (La sonnambula) and Clorinda (La Cenerentola). She has also performed at Scottish Opera, the Staatsoper Berlin, and in Dresden, San Francisco and Amsterdam.
