Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Debora Waldman undertook her musical studies in Israel and then at the Catholic University of Argentina in Buenos Aires. She was the first student in the history of the university to be awarded gold medals for both conducting and composition. In 2006 she became assistant to Kurt Masur following an audition organised by the Orchestre National de France. This led her to a busy career both in France and abroad. She regularly collaborates with the Paris Chamber Orchestra, the Rouen Opera Orchestra and the Orchestre Lamoureux, among others. As a keen ambassador for peace, Debora Waldman was chosen to conduct the concert Thessaloniki, Crossroads of Civilisation in honour of Arab-Israeli relations in 2011. She was recognised as a ‘Talented Conductor’ by ADAMI, the Society for Performers’ Rights in 2008 and by the Simone and Cino del Duca Foundation, under the aegis of the Académie des Beaux-Arts. She is a close friend of Richard Dubugnon and conducted the world première performances of Jeu de Sept Clefs in 2014 and Te Deum in 2015.
