Dominique Fanal undertook advanced musical training with Pierre Wissmer in particular then, for conducting, with Pierre Dervaux, André Girard, Jacques Pernoo and Fernand Quattrocchi, concurrently with his university studies. After his premiers prix at the Conservatoire (harmony, orchestration, analysis…), two SACEM prizes (1976, 1979), the Vocation Prize of the Académie du Maine (1980) and that of the Foundation of France in 1982, he received the prize of the Pays de Loire Regional Council in 1987, and was again distinguished by the Foundation of France in 1989. Conducting almost everywhere in France, he has been conductor of the Sinfonietta de Paris, musical director of the Collegium Musicum du Maine, and guest conductor of numerous foreign orchestras, in Poland, Spain, Russia and Byelorussia, Bulgaria, Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Belgium and the United States, as well as festivals, including Soirées Musicales d’été in Paris, Ile-de-France, Festival International de France, Montevideo Mozart Festival, Palma, Tarazona and others. He has collaborated with our greatest soloists and has given premières of numerous works by Thérèse Brenet, Wissmer, Calmel, Pardo, Raynaud, Creuze, Mikofalvy and others. His recording activity spans a large part of musical history from Vivaldi to the contemporary.
