Cantaora Esperanza Fernández is acknowledged as one of the principal exponents of contemporary Andalusian flamenco and has earned wide renown as a brilliant exemplar of the traditional art of cante jondo. A resident of Seville, whose multigenerational musical family hails from both Triana and Lebrija, Fernández performs at the most prestigious festivals throughout Europe and the Americas, including New York, Paris, Bergen, Lisbon, Brasilia, Marrakech, Cologne, Brussels, Rome, Athens, and Jerusalem.

She has also interpreted El amor brujo, La vida breve, and Siete canciones españolas with orchestras around the globe, as well as participating in the revival of the opera Margot by Joaquin Turina at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville. Fernández has shared the stage with artists as diverse as Miriam Makeba, Yehudi Menuhin, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Paco de Lucía and David Peña Dorantes.

Her albums Recuerdos and Mi voz en tu palabra received Latin GRAMMY® nominations. She recently recorded !Oh Vida¡ with the pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba.
