ESTRO ARMONICO LUXEMBOURG CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
The chamber orchestra Estro Armonico was established in 1992 with a concert that included works from Vivaldi’s Estro Armonico, with its guiding spirit and concertmaster Guy Goethals, under whose care the ensemble has become one of the leading such groups in Luxembourg. Vivaldi’s title, Estro Armonico can be translated as Harmonious Inspiration and the orchestra has taken this as its principle in the promotion and cultivation of a harmonic atmosphere between players, singers, soloists and public. The body of 45 musicians collaborates with choirs in the Grand Duchy and the wider adjoining region, working with conductors from Luxembourg such as Carlo Jans and Jonathan Kaell and with distinguished international conductors such as Jaap Schröder and Guy van Waas. The ensemble preserves a degree of flexibility with programmes of Baroque and Classical music as well as work in musicals, films and Big Band. Since its foundation the orchestra has given some 400 concerts.
