FRANCESCO GIAMMUSSO (b 1970 )
Francesco Giammusso was born on 27 January 1970 in Rome. His music has been played by Solisti Aquilani, Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Internationale de la Cité Universitaire de Paris, Roma Tre Orchestra, Teatro Ghione, Nancy Opera Theatre, Trier Theatre, Farfa Giubileo Festival Orchestra and several other musical institutions. His compositions have been performed at the European parliament in Strasbourg during the 2008 European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, and in occasion of the Aquila G8 in 2009 (Elegia per la Pace). He has been commissioned several symphonic works by the San Carlo Theatre in Naples (Reportage), by Opera Theatre in Rome (American Pastoral and Romanza) and by Orvieto Festival (Ave Maria). His music has been broadcast by Radio Televisione Italiana, Radio Tre and Radio Vaticana. He was awarded the Premio Internazionale Francavilla 2009. In 2012, Giammusso was nominated “Ambasciatore di Pace” in Assisi. He is a permanent member of David di Donatello, Accademia del Cinema Italiano. Ennio Morricone has written: “Giammusso’s music is well-written music. It reaches the mind and the heart with no compromises or short cuts”. Francesco Giammusso is currently composing a Requiem for Soli Chorus and Orchestra.
