French bass François Lis studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, and in 2004 he was nominated for the Révélation Artiste Lyrique of the year.

Performances include the role of Don Fernando in Beethoven’s Fidelio with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Zuniga in Carmen at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris, Clemens VII in Berlioz’s Benvenuto Cellini at the Opéra national du Rhin, Strasbourg with Michel Plasson and Friar Laurence in Berlioz’s Roméo et Juliette at the Teatr Wielki, Warsaw.

Recent roles include Count Asdrubale in Rossini’s La Pietra del Paragone at the Théâtre du Châtelet and the Teatro Regio, Parma, Narbal in Berlioz’s Les Troyens in Strasbourg, Le nozze di Figaro at the Opéra National de Lyon with William Christie, Melisso in Handel’s Alcina at the Paris Opéra, Dr Grenvil in La traviata, Alidoro in Rossini’s La Cenerentola, and Zuniga in Carmen at the Paris Opéra and the Teatro alla Scala, Milan.
