HELENE SCHNEIDERMANN

The American mezzo-soprano Helene Schneiderman has appeared as a guest artist with many major European and American opera companies and festivals including the Bayerisches Staatsoper, the Salzburg Festival, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Hamburg Oper, the New York City Opera, Seattle Opera, Santa Fe Opera, the Rossini Festival in Pesaro, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Canadian Opera Company, the San Francisco Opera, Glyndebourne, the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Opéra national de Paris, working with many of the world’s finest conductors including Leonard Bernstein, Giuseppe Patané, Sir Colin Davis, Sir Georg Solti, Bernard Haitink and Alberto Zedda.

In addition to her operatic commitments, Helene has developed a varied concert career and has appeared widely in oratorio and Lieder recitals, most notably at the Beethoven Festival, Bonn. She has recorded Eight Poems of Emily Dickinson by Aaron Copland on CD with the orchestra of St Luke’s under Dennis Russell Davies. Since 1984 she has been a member of the ensemble at the renowned Staatstheater Stuttgart, and in 1998 was given the prestigious title of Kammersängerin from the City of Stuttgart.
