Born in 1991, South Korean pianist Honggi Kim studied at the Korea National University of Art in Seoul, the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München and the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main with Arnulf von Arnim. In 2018, he returned to Munich, studying with Antti Siirala.
Honggi has been awarded prizes at numerous major international piano competitions including First Prize and two special prizes at the 2018 60th Concurso Internacional de Piano Premio Jaén and was one of the semi-finalists at the Concours Géza Anda in Zurich, where the jury awarded him the Schumann Prize. Winning Third Prize at the 2016 Concours de Genève enabled him to go on an extensive concert tour across Asia and in Geneva
He has performed solo recitals across Europe including at the 54th International Chamber Music Festival in Cervo, Italy, and the 28th Amfiteatrof Music Festival in Levanto, Italy. As a soloist, he has given concerts accompanied by the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Münchener Kammerorchester among many others.
